Good Morning Everyone!Sorry for missing yesterday! Some days my mornings are so busy I just cannot squeeze in blogging time as well. But I hope you all grabbed your Bible and read just a little bit. Yesterday's reading was to be Luke 8 the first part--verse 1-25. Today we are to finish up the chapter, so will go from verse 26 through verse 56.
Scripture:
Hearing this, Jesus said to Jairus, "Don't be afraid; just believe, and she will be healed." Luke 8:26-56
Observation:
Jairus had done his best. He had run to find Jesus, and pressed through the crowd to get to the center. Perhaps he had even shoved and pushed a few people out of the way. You know--normally he wouldn't have been so impolite. But this was not a normal time. He was desperate. And desperate times call for desperate measures.
His daughter was sick--deathly sick. She was only twelve years old, and was the light of his life. Upon reaching Jesus he fell at His feet and begged Him to come and heal her. What did it matter that he was a synagogue ruler, groveling in the dirt, pleading. None of that mattered, if only she could be made well.
Jesus agreed! He was coming! Jairus had a glimmer of hope. But it took so long. The crowds kept coming. Jesus kept stopping. Finally, a messenger came from home. It's too late. She is dead. Don't bother the teacher any longer.
Application:
Jesus told Jairus to hold on to his faith, when all looked hopeless. To not be afraid. To not give up. What are we facing today that appears hopeless? A sick loved one? Financial circumstances? A wayward child? Jairus' daughter was truly dead. The situation was truthfully hopeless. Without Jesus, that is. Because with Jesus, everything changed. And the impossible happened.
Prayer:
Dear Father--Grow my faith stronger. Help me to always turn my impossible situations over to You. To not be afraid. To just believe.

I love this lesson and have had to do it more and more the older I get - giving him my impossible situations.

You and me both! We don't really have a handle on things when we are younger--we just think we do. Finally, we live long enough to realize that there is nothing in our control, and that we are depending on Jesus for everything!
