And a Happy Happy Thanksgiving! Even if you are not living in the United States and celebrating Thanksgiving today, in all reality we all should be celebrating Thanksgiving every single day--Thanksgiving to our wonderful Creator, for all He has made and for all He has done (and continues to do) for us!
Today I am reading Psalm 114. This Psalm is focusing on the power of God in His deliverance of Israel. I found a verse that I think is pretty neat in it's description:
"Tremble, O earth, at the presence of the Lord, At the presence of the God of Jacob." Psalm 114:7
Can you just imagine God shows up and there is an earthquake because of His mighty power? So often, we think of God so causally. He WANTS us to feel free to come to Him, He INVITES us to approach Him through prayer any time at all. He has given Himself the name of "Our Father," but are we forgetting exactly who He is? Are we forgetting His mighty power? Are we forgetting that He is the Creator of everything?
Sometimes, people set out to save something in nature--and I think this is good! We need to not be polluting the waters, or cutting down all the forests, or doing other things that cause God's creatures to die because their habitat was destroyed. But do we sometimes look at "Mother Nature" as god, instead of looking at God the Creator as God? I found this quote in my reading this morning, and I thought it illustrates this thought well:
"God's handiwork in nature is not God Himself in nature. The things of nature are an expression of God's character, by them we may understand His love, His ower, and His glory; but we are not to regard nature as God. The artistic skill of human beings produces very beautiful workmanship, things that delight the eye and these things give us something of the idea of the designer, but the thing made is not the man. It is not the work, but the workman, that is counted worthy of honor. So, while nature is an expression of God's thought, it is not nature but the God of nature that is to be exalted."

Good reminder, isn't it? So today--as you are remembering to be thankful and grateful for all that you have--don't eave out the Source that all your blessings flow from. Even in trials, He carries us through. How very much He loves us!
